Artist Bio
Kübra Boy is a traditional Turkish tile artist based in Istanbul. She began her studies in the Traditional Turkish Arts Department at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2010 and graduated in 2017.
Throughout her artistic career, Boy has received awards in various group exhibitions and competitions. In 2019, she held her first solo exhibition titled "Memory of Victory" at Merkur Art Gallery, one of Turkey’s prestigious galleries.
In her art, Kübra Boy brings a contemporary perspective to traditional Turkish tile art, distinguishing herself as an artist. She explores the impacts and consequences of modern human interaction with nature and reflects these themes in her work. By using traditional Turkish ceramics as her primary medium, she not only emphasizes cultural connections but also highlights the sensitivity of the subject through the fragile nature of the material. Combining different techniques and materials such as sculpture, relief, found objects, and waste materials, she approaches Turkish ceramic art from various angles.
Since 2017, she has continued her artistic practice at her studio in Kadıköy, Istanbul.
