Hemhal Series

2024-2026
The Hemhal series is situated at a threshold where the distinctions between nature, culture, and the human dissolve into a shared process of becoming.
The artist approaches traditional Turkish tile (çini) not as a surface, but as a fragile carrier. The inherent vulnerability of the material continually destabilizes the integrity of form, while fracture is repositioned not as loss, but as a necessary condition for transformation.
As the tiled surface breaks apart, the boundaries between body, object, and soil begin to erode; distinct modes of existence merge and are reconfigured through one another.
Hemhal does not represent unity, but articulates a state in which nature, culture, and the human converge—dissolving together into a singular mode of being, and transforming together within it.
